    What is Equity Release?

Equity release allows individuals aged 55 and over to release money from the property they live in without having to make any monthly repayments. A homeowner can draw a lump sum or regular smaller sums from the value of their home whilst living there.

    Our equity release specialists can explain about the two types of equity release;

If you’re facing one of the following scenarios, equity release allows you to tap into the wealth you’ve accumulated in your property without the upheaval of moving home.

    • a pension shortfall
    • need to meet an unexpected expense
    • want to fund a retirement treat

An equity release product can play a crucial role in retirement funding.

The flexibility and safeguards, which are built into plans that comply with the Equity Release Council product standards, enable homeowners to safely realise their housing wealth, without having to worry about making monthly repayments.

Lifetime mortgages and home reversion plans are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Why use an Equity Release Specialist?

If you are thinking of taking out a plan then you need to find out as much as you can about your options and weigh up the advantages and disadvantages.

Our Equity Release Specialists will help you to understand the steps involved and talk you through your options, as well as the impact this might have on state benefits, tax and your obligations.

We can give you the information you need to make an informed choice. Done correctly, it should have no impact on an individual’s tax position or their state benefits.

However, each individual’s circumstances need to be assessed on a standalone basis. As equity release specialists we can carry out an independent benefit assessment on your behalf, to better understand your entitlement to benefits and check you are claiming everything to which you are entitled.

There are a wide range of equity release products to choose from, with new and innovative products being created regularly to meet client demand and income needs. This means that whatever your equity release needs, there is likely to be a plan available.

We offer clients a truly independent advice service and a genuine Equity Release specialism. Initial meetings are without cost or obligation with Paul Clifford Dip PFS.

If you are based in the Eastbourne, Brighton, Lewes, Crowborough, Seaford, Bexhill, Hastings, Rye and surrounding areas, please contact Paul with any equity release questions you may have, via the form or by phone.

As well as being a member of the Equity Release Council, our equity release specialist is an associate member of the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA) and we are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

“Home improvements were required and equity release would fund that. Paul offered a personal service at home, clear explanation as to all that Equity Release would entail. Friendly, Professional and very helpful. We cannot fault the service and assistance we received.”

    Client, East Sussex

“Paul went above and beyond in helping me get the lifetime mortgage through. There were a series of hold-ups and my buyer was getting very anxious and I was very concerned that the chain might collapse. Paul chased his contact at the mortgage company who in turn chased their solicitor. He did this numerous times until we achieved exchange. It would not have gone through in the reasonably timely fashion that it did if it hadn’t been for his help. (The delays were mainly due to solicitors being incredibly busy at the moment because of such a large volume of property sales.)”

    Client, East Sussex

“Paul was a star. He found us a great deal. Paul was professional, kept us informed every step of the way from beginning to end.”
