The Chancellor George Osborn has recently announced the budget ahead of the May 2015 UK election.

One of the key points from this, that could be great news for someone in your family, was the new ‘help to buy’ individual savings account.  The aim is to help first-time buyers save a deposit for their first mortgage.

The Government gives you £50 for every £200 you put into this account per month. You could get up to £3,000 to add to your mortgage deposit. This is even better news for couples, siblings or friends looking to get a mortgage. The savings accounts are for individuals, meaning if you both have one, you can get double the boost.

We are delighted to hear this news, it all helps to taking your first step on the property ladder.
